The Victorian government’s recent announcement about the re-introduction of another lockdown means our courts and clubhouse are again temporarily closed.
This is disappointing news - however we would ask club members when we eventually re-open the courts to remember the government requirements to check in via our QR code’s near the clubhouse entrance. By the way, you might check out our News page for more info on what’s happening around the club.
CLUB ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2021
The Annual General Meeting of the East Croydon Kilsyth Tennis Club Inc. was held in the Clubhouse on Wednesday, July 14th (pre-lockdown)
All offices were declared vacant and elections for the offices were held. One of our longest serving club servants, Neville Asquith stepped down from his role as club Vice-President. The Committee expressed their appreciation to Neville for his many years of service and were pleased to have Richie Wright volunteer to take on the role. Richie has been a highly respected committee member for many years. Michael Elliot was welcomed as a new member of the committee.
The club is delighted to announce the introduction of the inaugural "Warren Woodcock Junior Tennis Coaching Scholarship".
Over the next 12 months, each term a junior will be selected by the club to receive for that one term, a combination of group coaching combined with some intensive private tuition. The scholarship is to be awarded to a junior on the basis that they reflect the club's values of fairness, positive attitude and good sportsmanship, as well as displaying a persistent work ethic.
The Woodcock family who are sponsoring these four scholarships (to a combined annual value of $1,000), have enjoyed a long association with tennis, with Warren (Senior) having achieved a quarter final singles berth in the 1957 Australian Open and Warren (junior) having been the on-tour hitting partner for Ivan Lendl in the 1980's. Visit our JUNIOR SCHOLARSHIP page to read about the newest recipient of our coaching scholarship
East Croydon Kilsyth Tennis Club offer plenty of competition tennis options - although during the current pandemic, all tennis activities and programmes have been deferred until later in the year. However when some normality eventually returns if you're not wanting to play tennis regularly in a team, then social tennis might be an option. Contact our Club Secretary to enquire further.
When it does eventually resume, social sessions will offer a great opportunity to play tennis and meet new people, without having to commit to regular competition.
We are a friendly, family oriented club that welcomes new members of all ages and abilities.
