Join in the FUN - a great way to get out and meet new people
Open Court Tennis Sessions: Thursday’s 7.00 pm  Click here for more info
The Open Court evening sessions at East Croydon Kilsyth Tennis Club, offer a fresh and fun opportunity to play tennis. Yes, there will be tennis activities - but it will be as much about the socialising, having a laugh and enjoying the music and some nibbles. If you don't have a racquet - don't worry - one will be provided. You can find out more information by clicking HERE

Local ward Councillors visit our club
Deputy Mayor Cr. Marijke Graham and Cr. Tasa Damante (who represent our local Wyreena ward on the Maroondah City Council) visited our club recently. They met with several members of the club's committee and discussed potential opportunities for Council to support the growth and development of our club - including a much-needed "face-lift" for our clubhouse in the near future.

The councillors were impressed with the level of local community participation and engagement with our club. By way of example -
  • Our awesome club coaches have over 200 juniors regularly attending coaching classes during the week
  • The club has over 16 teams playing night tennis at our courts during the week
  • The club is fielding 5 veteran (over 50's) teams in mid-week competition and two mid-week ladies teams
  • We have at least 8 junior teams competing in weekend competition
  • The club hosts a "Tennis for Teens" after-school program on Thursdays - which is as much about "chilling-out" as it is about playing tennis
  • And a number of other initiatives in which the club is involved
Councillors expressed a desire to work closely with the club moving forward - supporting our club's commitment to be a "Warm, welcoming and inclusive club that encourages players of all ages and ability to participate and enjoy tennis".

As a sport, leisure and recreation activity, TENNIS offers numerous physical and mental health benefits - but there is also very much a social side to playing tennis at our club.  Meeting new people, making new friends and enjoying a coffee in the clubhouse after a hit. Thanks to Tasa and Marijke for coming a along and catching an inside glimpse of what makes our club culture one that we're proud of.

Club hosts a visit from our local state MP, David Hodgett
East Croydon Kilsyth Tennis Club  was delighted to host a visit from our local state MP, David Hodgett.
Noel Hester, David Hodgett, Andrew & Kelsey, Steve Baldry & Mike Drummond
The visit served two useful purposes - firstly it offered David an opportunity to see first-hand the popularity of the kids FREE school holiday tennis clinic which was being run by our awesome club coaches, Andrew & Kelsey. David chatted amiably with some of the parents of kids who were participating in the clinic (over 100 juniors enjoyed the free clinic - and the BBQ that followed)

But secondly, David also met three great servants of the club - Noel Hester, Steve Baldry & Mike Drummond.  David recognised that volunteers such as these three, are the life-blood of any community sports club. He also offered his support for the club's participation in the Tennis Australia exciting new program, "Get Your Racquet On" - designed to encourage both new and lapsed players to join us and have some fun with tennis.

Congratulations to our Club Secretary - Steve Baldry
