- Warren Woodcock & Family: "Junior Tennis Scholarship"
Over the past 12 months, each term a junior was selected by the club to receive for that term, a combination of group coaching combined with some intensive private tuition (to the value of $250). Each of these 4 scholarships were awarded to a junior on the basis that they reflected the club's values of fairness and good sportsmanship - as well as demonstrating a positive work ethic.
The Woodcock family who sponsored these four scholarships (to a combined annual value of $1,000), have enjoyed a long association with tennis, with Warren (Senior) having achieved a quarter final singles berth in the 1957 Australian Open and Warren (junior) having been the on-tour hitting partner for Ivan Lendl in the 1980's.
The club is very grateful to the Woodcock family for supporting the development of our up-and-coming junior players through these initial coaching scholarships, throughout the 2020 / 21 season.
The Mooroolbark branch of Bendigo Bank kindly agreed to continue funding of the junior scholarships for the 2022/23 season.
