The Victorian Premier has recently announced a return to stage 3 lock-down restrictions until late August. Tennis is one of the activities that is allowed to continue - but subject to meeting a number of conditions.
These restrictions according to Tennis Victoria, only allow for casual/social tennis between members of the same household or two people from different households i.e. singles tennis only. Coaching is also limited to one on one.

Accordingly, there can be no doubles or organised team practice such as the vets, until advised otherwise.

AGM Deferred

All club members please note the club's Annual General Meeting, which had been scheduled for Wednesday July 15 has had to be deferred until late August.

Guidelines for safe play

East Croydon Kilsyth Tennis Club
Tennis Victoria have published a set of Guidelines for Return to Play- which is the key reference the club is using. Our club recognises the imperative of minimising the spread of the corona-virus. Following some simple precautions can help to reduce your risk of exposure to the corona-virus.   You might like to visit our page on Actions to Reduce Risk of COVID-19 Infection

These are troubling times ....... But by continuing to care for each other and asking for help if we need it - then we will get to the other side of the pandemic...... If you are required to undergo quarantine at some stage because you suspect you carry the virus, then you might be interested in our page “Coping With Self Isolation”

NEWS FLASH

The club is delighted to announce the introduction of the inaugural "Warren Woodcock Junior Tennis Coaching Scholarship"

Over the next 12 months, each term a junior will be selected by the club to receive for that one term, a combination of group coaching combined with some intensive private tuition. The scholarship is to be awarded to a junior on the basis that they reflect the club's values of fairness, positive attitude and good sportsmanship, as well as displaying a persistent work ethic.

The Woodcock family who are sponsoring these four scholarships (to a combined annual value of $1,000), have enjoyed a long association with tennis, with Warren (Senior) having achieved a quarter final singles berth in the 1957 Australian Open and Warren (junior) having been the on-tour hitting partner for Ivan Lendl in the 1980's.

SOCIAL TENNIS Thursday evenings - postponed until after pandemic crisis has passed

East Croydon Kilsyth Tennis Club

East Croydon Kilsyth Tennis Club offer plenty of competition tennis options - although during the current pandemic, all tennis activities and programmes have been deferred until later in the year. However when some normality eventually returns  if you're not wanting to play tennis regularly in a team, then social tennis might just be the option that suits you

Social tennis will be offered on Thursday evenings, 7.00 - 9.00 pm. At this point, we can’t say exactly when  social tennis will resume.  There are simply too many unknowns associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.

When it does eventually resume, social sessions will offer a great opportunity to play tennis and meet new people, without having to commit to regular competition. The cost will be $5 per player (goes to cover lighting expenses). You can find out more information by contacting Kelsey (0408 731 065)  or click here

Club hosts a visit from our local state MP, David Hodgett
East Croydon Kilsyth Tennis Club  was delighted to host a visit from our local state MP, David Hodgett.
Noel Hester, David Hodgett, Andrew & Kelsey, Steve Baldry & Mike Drummond
The visit served two useful purposes - firstly it offered David an opportunity to see first-hand the popularity of the kids FREE school holiday tennis clinic which was being run by our awesome club coaches, Andrew & Kelsey. David chatted amiably with some of the parents of kids who were participating in the clinic (over 100 juniors enjoyed the free clinic - and the BBQ that followed)
He also met three great servants of our club - Steve Baldry (club Secretary), Noel Hester (club President & Treasurer) & Mike Drummond (Night Tennis records Secretary). David recognised that volunteers such as these three, are the life-blood of any community sports club.

Court availability guide

Over the next couple of months it is unlikely that either Night tennis competition, junior competition nor Saturday seniors competition will be resuming. However many coaching and social tennis options are available - and the schedule below offers a guide as to court availability.  An email from the club president explains all of this further.  You can read the email in our News section
